Buddy the ChiCorgie (chihuahua-corgi mix) got bitten on his flank by a brown recluse spider. These spiders are typically found in the Midwest and south-central United States.
Though not aggressive, their venom is powerfully necrotic, destroying layers of tissue around the bite and often leaving a deep scar. Their bites can even have systemic effects, such as lethargy and nausea.
While healthy adults and larger dogs can endure such a bite, it can be deadly to small dogs, like Buddy.
Before we go on, it should be noted that, we do not currently know if/how Lavengel® interacts with spider venom, or if it possesses some sort of mechanism that denatures it. That will call for a study that is out of our reach for now.
That said, we have the below testimonial, and we want Lavengel® to provide hope to other owners whose dogs may encounter a situation like this.
Buddy's owner, Steve, a friend of Lavengel's inventor Dr. Andy Clark, was fearful for Buddy’s life, so he reached out, acquired some Lavengel, and tried it on Buddy's bite wound. Here is what Steve had to say:
“A lump had developed followed by a hole in his side that was oozing pus. We took him to the vet, but they said it was at an advanced stage and the outcome was doubtful. They gave him antibiotics but there is no anti-venom.
We used Lavengel at the suggestion of Dr. Clark. We applied it to the wound several times a day and saw improvement after one day. After several days, the hole closed up, and within a week, it was nearly healed. I recommend this product highly and am so grateful to the people who made it.
